Jo’s Weekly Email – get all the information you need for week starting 1st June 2026

May is almost over and the ‘summer months’ start tomorrow.  I wonder why the temperature is falling??
Well this is Britain…….

A few pieces of news for you first:

Anne Hobbs’ MS ‘Go Challenge 2026’

Anne has now finished her ‘MS Go Challenge 2026’ very successfully and sends this message:

I managed to clock up 30.5 miles over the 12 days and raised £535.00. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who generously sponsored me, a thank you to Annemarie who organised all the paperwork and to Heather for giving up her time to collect the sponsorship money, and thank you to everyone for their encouragement.”

Well done Anne from all of us!!

To all our intrepid Minibus travellers.

Ann Chelley is excited to announce a new minibus destination that will soon be added to the garden centre visits – Moss End Garden Centre near Bracknell.

A fellow resident visited a few weeks ago and highly recommended it.  The garden centre office team have also confirmed that the pathways are suitable for wheelchairs and walkers.

Moss End is much more than just a garden centre.  There is an Italian restaurant, an antiques centre, an aquarium, a deli, a variety of little shops, and of course plenty of plants to enjoy.

Come along and discover somewhere new on Monday 22nd June, but please remember to book your place in advance at Reception.

Tuesday June 16th.  Hampshire Lakes 10th Anniversary celebrations

‘Yes’ some of us have really been here for 10 years!  It somehow doesn’t seem that long, but there you go….time does fly when you are enjoying yourself!!

So on Tuesday June 16th we will be celebrating the official opening 10 years ago.  You have already received a special anniversary version of Lake News and work is afoot to prepare special displays reminding us of many things that have happened here since 2016.

On the day itself we will be joined by some special guests from Anchor and the local community to help us celebrate.

You should have now received an invitation to the special picnic lunch (please don’t forget to let reception know if you will be attending) in the sensory garden.
The day will finish with a champagne reception (courtesy of HLE) and a Gala Dinner.  During the dinner we will be entertained by Harry Kersley.  Harry is a professional tenor who many of you will remember as he has entertained us with great acclaim in the past.

Flyers for the dinner have been circulated so book up at reception for an event not to be missed!

June’s Movie Night – Tuesday 9th.  Tea with Mussolini

Tea with Mussolini is a 1999 semi-autobiographical comedy-drama war film directed by Franco Zeffirelli, scripted by John Mortimer.  It tells the story of a young Italian boy’s upbringing by a circle of unconventional British and American women who meet for tea each afternoon before and during the Second World War.
Starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Lily Tomlin, Cher and Joan Plowright, it is a story of civilised disobedience!
